A screen grab claiming to show a post by actor Shah Rukh Khan on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) has been widely shared on social media. The post supposedly had Shah Rukh Khan stating, "Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will be the next prime minister of India." However, after looking into it, the PTI Fact Check Desk discovered that this picture is made up and not real. The actor hasn't posted anything about the Congress leader recently.
The Claim:
On May 25, an Instagram user shared a screenshot claiming to be a post from Shah Rukh Khan on X (formerly Twitter). The post allegedly stated that Rahul Gandhi will be the next prime minister.
The caption of the post said: "अबतो शाहरुख खान ने भी कहदिया राहुल गांधी ही प्रधानमंत्री बनेंगे…."
The English translation of the caption is, "Now Shahrukh Khan also said Rahul Gandhi will become the Prime Minister…."
The Investigation:
The investigation began by checking social media, where it was found that many people had shared the same screenshot claiming Shah Rukh Khan said something about Rahul Gandhi becoming Prime Minister.
This screenshot was also popular on YouTube, with three videos showing it.
A detailed search on Google did not show any reports about such a post from Shah Rukh Khan.
Further checking the actor’s official X account showed no such post. In May, the only post he made was urging the people of Maharashtra to vote on May 20, during the fifth phase of the Lok Sabha elections.
The investigation also included checking the actor's account activity on Social Blade, a tool for analyzing social media. No posts, as shown in a screenshot, were recently deleted.
The conclusion was that the screenshot being shared was fake and not actually from the Bollywood Megastar Shah Rukh Khan.
The Fact:
Shah Rukh Khan never said anything on social media or in public about Rahul Gandhi being the next prime minister.
Many people shared a screenshot that supposedly showed Shah Rukh Khan saying on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) that Rahul Gandhi will be the next Prime Minister Of India. However, the PTI Fact Check Desk investigated and found that the screenshot was fake and the claim was not true. Sharing such false screenshots can lead to legal trouble and is unethical, as it spreads misinformation and can mislead the public. It’s important to verify information before sharing it on social media.
