Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi starrer upcoming film, Jolly LLB 3, has landed in legal trouble. The Pune court has recently issued a notice to the actors over the film. Lawyer Wajid Khan Bidkar has filed a complaint against the actors, claiming that the movie mocks the legal system and court proceedings.
Bidkar claimed in his plea that Jolly LLB 3 disparages the judiciary and presents the legal profession in a negative light. Additionally, the petitioner took issue with a scene in the movie where judges are called "mamu," a slang term used in colloquial speech.
The court has sent out the notices and requested Arshad and Akshay to appear in the court on September 28. Further information is awaited.
However, this is not the first complaint against the upcoming film. Previously, the Ajmer District Bar Association President, Chandrabhan, filed a complaint in May 2024 against the makers of the film. The complaint claimed that the franchise disrespects the Indian judiciary system.
According to Chandrabhan's complaint, the movie depicts judges and attorneys in an "inappropriate" manner that he described as "humorous and indecent." Additionally, Chandrabhan had pleaded with the court to halt the Jolly LLB 3 shooting.
According to NBT, Chandrabhan claimed, “This decision has been taken considering the first and second parts of Jolly LLB. It seems that the filmmakers, directors and actors do not respect the dignity and prestige of the judiciary of the country’s Constitution at all. The shooting of Jolly LLB 3 is going on in the surrounding villages and areas including the DRM office of Ajmer, which will continue for several days. Even during the shooting of this film, the actors of the film do not seem to be at all serious about the image, prestige and dignity of the judiciary including the judges.”
The first instalment in the Jolly LLB franchise was released in 2013. In 2017, its follow-up was released in theatres. Saurabh Shukla and Arshad Warsi played the main parts in the first movie.
Arshad Warsi was replaced in the sequel by Akshay Kumar. Huma Qureshi joined him as well. Akshay Kumar, Arshad Warsi, Saurabh Shukla, Huma Qureshi, Amrita Rao, and Gajraj Rao are among the outstanding cast members of Jolly LLB 3, which was produced by Star Studio18 and helmed by writer-director Subhash Kapoor.
