Indian cinema’s global footprint continues to widen, and few figures embody that journey as gracefully as Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Speaking on the sidelines of an international film platform after her masterclass to Hollywood Reporter, the actor reflected on why global film festivals still hold deep meaning for her, even after decades of walking some of the world’s most prestigious red carpets.

Responding to a question about what keeps these experiences special despite her long international career, Aishwarya said, "The celebration of cinema. I think it's just wonderful that there are such incredible platforms created in so many parts of the world where cinema is celebrated, is viewed, is discovered and explored." She stressed that these festivals go beyond glamour, offering spaces where films from different cultures find new audiences and conversations.

For Aishwarya, being present at such events is also about responsibility and solidarity. "I think that's just every opportunity that gives us a chance as members of the film fraternity to support it," she added, highlighting how participation helps strengthen the global ecosystem of cinema. She described it as an experience layered with joy and purpose, noting that it remains "an absolute pleasure" to be part of these moments.

The conversation naturally turned to Indian cinema’s evolving global journey. With Indian films increasingly finding screens and viewers across continents, Aishwarya expressed optimism about the direction the industry is heading. "The fact that markets continue to open themselves, the audiences continue to grow," she said, calling it a positive sign for the future. According to her, expanding markets mean Indian stories can travel further than ever before, breaking cultural and geographic barriers.
