The Aam Aadmi Party has listed its jailed leaders Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, and Satyendar Jain among the 40 star campaigners for the Lok Sabha seats in Gujarat.
The party has also included Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal’s wife Sunita Kejriwal in the list. Out of the 26 Lok Sabha constituencies in Gujarat, AAP has nominated candidates for two seats, Bharuch and Bhavnagar, as part of the INDIA bloc, while its ally Congress is contesting the remaining 24 seats.
Sunita, a former Indian Revenue Services (IRS) officer, gained attention with her digital briefings, where she read out messages from Arvind Kejriwal, who was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on March 21 in connection with the Delhi liquor policy money laundering case.
She also addressed a rally of the INDIA bloc for the first time at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan on March 31, strongly advocating for voting the BJP out of power.
Arvind Kejriwal, also listed as a star campaigner, is currently in judicial custody in Tihar jail and has been running the government from prison. His custody has been extended until April 23.
Among others included are Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Rajya Sabha MPs Raghav Chadha, Sanjay Singh, Sandeep Pathak, and Delhi ministers Saurabh Bhardwaj, Atishi, and Gopal Rai.
