Prime Minister Narendra Modi speaking at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi on June 4 said that for the first time since 1962, a government has secured a third consecutive term, emphasising people's overwhelming confidence in BJP and the NDA.
"After 1962, for the first time a government has won the mandate for a third consecutive term," PM Modi said.
The PM called the Lok Sabha election results a triumph of the people, democracy, and faith in the Constitution.
Beginning his victory speech with 'Jai Jagannath', the PM expressed gratitude to the people of Odisha for giving the BJP a clear mandate to form its first government in the state. He praised the NDA's performance in Andhra Pradesh under Chandrababu Naidu and in Bihar under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Additionally, he commended the Election Commission for efficiently conducting the world's largest election. He also acknowledged the sacrifices of BJP workers in Kerala, where the party secured a significant win.
PM Modi was joined by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, and BJP President J P Nadda at the headquarters, which displayed 'Thank You India' in multiple languages, including Urdu.
Constitution as the guiding light for a developed India, says PM
As he prepared to take office for a record third term, the PM pledged to collaborate with all states, regardless of the ruling party, to build a developed India. He outlined his vision for a term marked by significant decisions and a strong focus on eradicating corruption.
"The fight against corruption is becoming tougher by the day. Corruption is being shamelessly glorified for political interest. In our third term, NDA will focus a lot on rooting out corruption of all kinds," PM Modi stated.
The PM highlighted the "clean sweep" victories in both assembly and Lok Sabha elections in states like Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. He noted that the opposition alliance's total seats were fewer than the BJP's alone, and pointed out Congress's significant losses in several states.
