The Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday said that the Congress’s entire agenda rests on lies and spreading falsehoods and claimed that the party wants to rewrite the Constitution of India on a blank page.
In a post on X, the Maharashtra unit of the BJP claimed that a red Constitution diary distributed by the Congress party in Maharashtra where polls are due in two weeks, is blank and bears the Constitution only on its cover.
“The Congress wants to rewrite India’s Constitution as a blank slate. They plan to remove all the laws and articles written by Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. This is why Rahul Gandhi recently predicted the end of reservations,” Maharashtra BJP posted on its X handle while sharing two short videos.
While one video showed Rahul Gandhi carrying a small red Constitution book on stage — the small red book was popularised by the leader ahead of the Lok Sabha elections as part of the party’s bid to further its agenda of the BJP trying to subvert the Constitution.
The second video showed the diary titled Constitution of India, and apparently also distributed to others, with blank pages inside.
BJP leader and spokesperson Amit Malviya slammed the Congress and its leader over the issue, terming the latter as the “universally accepted expert on lies”.
“Not just Maharashtra, the entire country knows that Congress lies. But what lies to tell, the leaders of Maharashtra Congress should decide among themselves. After the fake slogan about the Constitution was exposed, all the leaders are coming out with different lies. Our free advice to the leaders of Maharashtra Congress is that their leader Rahul Gandhi is the universally accepted expert on lies. Ask him once as well what lies to tell,” he said on X, tagging the post by Maharashtra BJP.
The developments come ahead of the elections in Maharashtra where the Congress and BJP are locked in a high-stakes battle. While the Congress is banking on its five guarantees to repeat its Lok Sabha performance where it emerged with the highest number of seats.
The BJP, upbeat after its victory in Haryana, is hoping to turn the tide against the Maha Vikas Aghadi and ensure a second term for the Mahayuti.
Elections in Maharashtra are scheduled to be held on November 20 while the results will be declared on November 23.
