Hours after the Bharatiya Janata Party raked up the controversy over the "anti-Bihar" and "anti-Sanatana" remarks made by DMK leaders in the past, Tamil Nadu chief minister MK Stalin stated that the Mahagathbandhan will win the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections. Stalin arrived in Bihar earlier today to extend support to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Vote Adhikar Yatra’
Addressing a gathering in Bihar's Muzaffarpur in his mother tongue Tamil, Stalin said Rahul Gandhi and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav came together to “save democracy.” “This friendship will help you win the Bihar elections. The BJP is going to lose. Your victory is evident even before the elections. The BJP is trying to stop you from winning,” the DMK chief remarked.
Leading up to the rally in Muzaffarpur, the DMK has been critical of the special intensive revision (SIR) in Bihar, terming it an unfair exercise by the Election Commission of India (ECI). Pointing to the deletion of 65 lakh voters from the electoral roll, the DMK alleged that “lakhs of people with an anti-BJP mindset were removed from the rolls in Bihar.” In a statement last month, Stalin had criticised the SIR, saying it was “tilting the balance in favour of the BJP.”
Stalin also accused the Election Commission of India of acting like a “remote-controlled puppet.” “Over 65 lakh voters have been removed from the Bihar vote list. This is the murder of democracy,” he said.
Soon after joining ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’, Stalin in a post on X wrote, “Touchdown Bihar…the land of respected Lalu Prasad Ji greets me with fire in its eyes, the soil heavy with every stolen vote. Joined by my brothers Rahul Gandhi Jee, Tejashwi Yadav and sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra as the ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ turns people’s pain into unstoppable strength.” Earlier today, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav rode motorcycles as they made their way through the streets of Muzaffarpur district during the ongoing ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’.
Meanwhile, the JDU, too, has slammed Mr Stalin's Bihar visit. "Rahul ji has called Stalin sahab in Bihar, who has made vulgar comments on Hindu mythology. He also called Revanth Reddy, who had raised questions on the DNA of Biharis. How can Tejaswi Yadav expect that people of Bihar will support him when he is accompanied by such people with such thoughts," said JDU leader Abhishek Jha.
