Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a press conference in Patna on Monday, accusing him of being a habitual liar and making unfulfilled promises to the nation. Kharge did not mince words as he criticized the Prime Minister's track record.
He stated that PM Modi speaks about Congress but has forgotten his own actions, including demonetisation, the black money promise, the commitment to create two crore jobs, and minimum support price guarantees for farmers.
Kharge said, "PM Modi jhuthon ke sardar hain. Jhuthon ke sardar har jagah jaa ke jhuth baatein bolte hain. (PM Modi is the chief of liars, he lies wherever he goes)."
"PM Modi speaks about Congress, but he has forgotten his own actions. He forgot demonetisation, black money, two crore jobs, and MSP. He has not been able to fulfil these false promises he made. Now he has promised he will give one crore jobs. You have been the prime minister for the last 11 years, and you have not been able to fulfil the promise of two crore jobs. PM Modi lies all the time," he added.
The Congress chief pointed out that despite being in power for 11 years, the Prime Minister has failed to deliver on his promise of two crore jobs, yet is now promising one crore new jobs.
Taking a dig at Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's conspicuous absence from Prime Minister Modi's recent roadshow in Patna, Kharge suggested political maneuvering within the National Democratic Alliance.
During the press conference, Kharge noted the striking absence of the state's chief minister from high-profile NDA events. He remarked that impressive photographs from the previous day's roadshow showed the Prime Minister, but Nitish Kumar was nowhere to be seen. The Congress leader observed that even at the rally, the Chief Minister's presence was minimal, and the BJP appeared to have deliberately sidelined him.
Kharge questioned what the situation might mean for post-election politics in Bihar, stating that PM Modi appears to be employing tactics to make Nitish Kumar invisible.
The Congress President also criticized Nitish Kumar's long political career, pointing out that despite being sworn in as Chief Minister nine times, he has failed to deliver meaningful development for Bihar.
Kharge further slammed the state government's recent financial assistance scheme for women, in which Rs 10,000 was deposited into their accounts. He dismissed this as an election gimmick, expressing confidence in the discernment of Bihar's voters. The Congress chief questioned why such welfare measures did not occur to Nitish Kumar during his 20 years in power or to PM Modi during his 11-year tenure as Prime Minister, characterizing these initiatives as mere election promises designed to mislead people.
The Bihar Assembly elections for 243 seats are scheduled to be held in two phases on November 6 and 11, with results set to be announced on November 14.
