Confusion regarding the postponement of the Staff Selection Commission Combined Graduate Level (SSC CGL) 2025 Tier-1 examination has been addressed following a high-level meeting between the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) and SSC officials on August 4, 2025. While the exam remains scheduled for August 13–30, 2025, its smooth conduct depends on resolving ongoing technical and logistical challenges.
In the August 4 meeting, SSC officials confirmed that the Tier-1 exam is still on track for its scheduled dates. However, they acknowledged concerns over infrastructure readiness, including server stability, exam centre coordination, and technical glitches.
Earlier, on July 31, 2025, a group of teachers and students met an SSC Director-level official, who reassured them that no SSC exams would be postponed and advised candidates to continue their preparations.
Reasons Behind Postponement Rumours
The speculation about a possible delay stemmed from two key factors. First, the July 29, 2025, SSC notification listed only the Stenographer Grade ‘C’ & ‘D’ (August 6–8) and Hindi Translator (August 12) exams, with no mention of the CGL Tier-1 exam, despite its inclusion in the annual calendar. This omission led to uncertainty among aspirants.
Second, SSC’s recent shift to a new Computer-Based Test (CBT) vendor has resulted in operational difficulties, such as login failures, server crashes, questions not loading properly, and last-minute cancellations at certain centres. These issues were particularly evident during the SSC Selection Post Phase 13 exam, raising concerns about the vendor’s ability to handle the large-scale CGL Tier-1 exam, which typically sees over 28 lakh applicants.
SSC has already issued city intimation slips and admit cards for the Stenographer and Hindi Translator exams, indicating that the commission is proceeding with scheduled tests. This suggests that unless critical technical problems arise, the CGL exam is unlikely to face abrupt postponement.
Candidates are advised to monitor official SSC updates (ssc.gov.in) for any announcements and continue rigorous preparation, assuming the exam may proceed as planned.
As of now, no official postponement has been announced. The admit cards and city intimation slips are expected soon. Candidates are advised to avoid panic and rely only on verified SSC communications.
