Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during the 124th edition of his monthly radio programme Mann Ki Baat, lauded the achievements of Indian students who excelled at the International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) 2025, held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Among those acknowledged were Devesh Pankaj Bhaiya, a Class 12 student who secured a Gold Medal, and Debdatta Priyadarshi, a Class 10 student who won a Silver Medal. Both were part of the four-member Indian contingent at the prestigious international competition.
In his address, the Prime Minister said, “A few days ago, our students won medals at the International Chemistry Olympiad. Devesh Pankaj, Sandeep Kuchi, Debdatta Priyadarshi, and Ujjwal Kesari have made the country proud.” He further highlighted India's success at the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) 2025, held in Australia, where Indian students bagged 3 Gold, 2 Silver, and 1 Bronze medal.
Devesh, who has maintained a stellar academic record, has also been accepted to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). A two-time gold medalist at the International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO), he received the Bal Shakti Puraskar in 2020 for his contributions to science.
Reacting to the Prime Minister’s recognition, Devesh said that Science Olympiads should be given the same importance as the Olympic Games, encouraging participation from students across the country.
Debdatta Priyadarshi, originally from Bhubaneswar, is currently preparing for JEE Advanced while continuing to excel in academic competitions. Expressing his gratitude, he said, “The environment of Kota and its competitive spirit made me stronger every day and prepared me for such achievements.”
Both Devesh and Debdatta are students of ALLEN Career Institute - a coaching institute in Kota, Rajasthan.
Their achievements not only highlight India’s growing presence on global academic platforms but also serve as an inspiration for students across the country aiming to pursue excellence in science and mathematics.
