Chilean Miners Rescued in 2010


The world celebrated a remarkable rescue on October 13, 2010, when the last of the 33 miners trapped in Chile’s San José mine was brought to safety. The miners had been trapped underground for 69 days following the collapse of the copper–gold mine on August 5. This monumental rescue operation was led by the Chilean government with critical support from the international community.
