In a major development, the Madhya Pradesh High Court has stayed the release of the NEET UG 2025 results following complaints of power outages and poor exam conditions during the test held on May 5. The court has sought responses from the National Testing Agency (NTA), the local power distribution company, and the examination centers involved.

The NEET UG exam, conducted by the NTA, was marred by severe weather disruptions in Indore, leading to power failures at 11-12 examination centres. Students reported that heavy rainfall (2.7 inches) and 120 km/h winds caused widespread electricity cuts, leading exam halls into darkness.

Despite candles and torches being provided, many candidates struggled to read the question paper, affecting their performance. Over 5,000 students were reportedly impacted, with some even breaking down in distress after the exam.

The Madhya Pradesh High Court has issued notices to the NTA, power company, and exam centres, demanding an explanation on the lack of backup power arrangements. The respondents must file their replies by June 30, delaying the result declaration until further orders.
