NEET UG 2025: NTA Revises Exam Pattern, Removes Optional Questions in Section B

The NTA has revised the NEET UG 2025 exam pattern, removing optional questions from Section B. Candidates must now attempt all 180 questions in the OMR-based exam.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has introduced a change in the exam pattern for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET UG) 2025. The optional questions in Section B, which were temporarily introduced during the COVID-19 pandemic, have now been removed.

As per the revised pattern, the NEET UG 2025 question paper will consist of 180 compulsory questions, making it mandatory for candidates to attempt all questions. The optional questions in Section B were initially included as a one-time measure during the pandemic but will no longer be part of the exam.

Revised Exam Structure

The new structure for the NEET UG 2025 exam is as follows:


Each subject contributes equally to the total score of 720 marks, with each section carrying 180 marks. Candidates will have three hours (180 minutes) to complete the exam.
