Jammu: Schools across Jammu will remain closed until 10 September following heavy rains, flash floods and landslides that have affected the region since August 26. The Directorate of School Education Jammu has issued instructions to all heads of institutions to prepare for reopening and to take necessary steps before resuming offline classes.

According to the order, heads of institutions and staff members must report for duty on Monday to carry out a complete safety and security audit of school buildings. This includes checking the structural condition of classrooms, ensuring the safety of students and staff, and addressing any damage caused by the recent weather.

The Directorate has directed that the decision to resume offline classes from 10 September should be taken only after confirming that the premises are safe. Chief Education Officers in each district have been asked to monitor daily activities in schools and submit detailed reports to the Directorate.

“All concerned are hereby directed to ensure timely compliance of the instructions in letter and spirit,” the order stated.
