IIT JAM 2026 Registration: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay has extended the registration deadline for the Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM) 2026 till October 20, 2025. Earlier, the last date to apply was October 12, 2025. Candidates who have not yet registered can now submit their applications on the official website jam2026.iitb.ac.in by 11:59 PM (IST).
The IIT JAM examination is conducted for admission to M.Sc., M.Sc.-Tech, MS (Research), Joint M.Sc.-Ph.D., and Integrated Ph.D. programmes offered by 22 IITs across India. For 2026, around 3,000 seats are available across 89 postgraduate courses, providing students with opportunities in a range of science and technology fields.
Exam Pattern
The IIT JAM 2026 examination will include three types of questions:
- Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
- Multiple Select Questions (MSQs)
- Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions
To apply, candidates must register through the JAM Online Application Processing System (JOAPS) portal. They need to create an account, provide academic and personal details, upload required documents, select test papers and examination cities, and pay the application fee.
Each candidate can choose a maximum of two test papers and three exam cities.

- Enter the required registration details
- Fill in the application form
- Pay the application fee online
- Submit the form and download the confirmation page
- Keep a printout of the confirmation page for future reference
Candidates are advised to complete the registration process well before the extended deadline to avoid last minute technical issues.
