CBSE 12th Economics Exam Review: Check Paper Analysis Based on Teachers’ & Students’ Feedback

The Class 12 Economics paper was of moderate difficulty, many students found the theoretical questions straightforward, allowing them to answer with ease. However, some questions required additional effort and time, making them slightly challenging for those who were not thoroughly prepared. Students who had practised a variety of questions beforehand found the paper manageable.

Shreya Gambhir, from Seth Anandram Jaipuria School, Ghaziabad, said, "The Economics Class XII paper was average above. It had some questions that our teachers had already included in pre-board papers, so we knew how to answer those. Further, the paper was a little bit lengthy for me, but I managed to complete in time. The difficulty level was average to be honest, not too difficult but not easy either. The case studies had one question from passage; the rest 2 questions were from the book only."

Soumya Dubey, another student said, "The Economics Class XII paper was overall easy. The questions were mostly direct and numericals were easy. MCQs required a bit of application but they were good too. Case studies were also direct and regular."

Teachers' Review

Teachers said that the paper was well-structured and balanced, covering the prescribed syllabus effectively. Most questions were based on fundamental concepts from microeconomics and macroeconomics, testing students’ understanding in a comprehensive manner. While theoretical questions were direct, application-based and data interpretation questions required critical thinking and analytical skills. Overall, the paper was fair and in line with CBSE’s guidelines.

Ms. Sudeshna Bhattacharya, HOD Economics, Seth Anandram Jaipuria School, Ghaziabad, said, "The Economics Class XII exam was of easy-to-moderate level. The MCQs were concept-based in macroeconomics; in the Indian Economy they were from the NCERT itself. In macroeconomics, the (AD-AS) diagram based questions came as option with a descriptive question and the level was easy. Most of the questions were direct only and others were application-based. In Indian Economy a thorough reading of NCERT was required to answer the ques and they were of moderate level. Numerical questions were easy. Case studies as well as subjective questions were easy. Only 2-3 MCQs were tricky."

Students were able to complete the paper within the given time and were satisfied with its overall level. All sets of the paper were considered easy, making it accessible to those who had prepared well.

The paper also included numerical questions that required careful calculations. Around 20% of the questions were competency-based, testing students' analytical and application skills. Those who had practiced sample papers and textbook exercises found the paper manageable and could score well.
