AP Dasara Holidays 2025: The Andhra Pradesh government has revised the dates for the Dussehra holidays for schools in the state. The updated schedule confirms that schools will remain closed from 22 September to 2 October 2025, extending the break to a total of 12 days.
The change was announced by State Education Minister Nara Lokesh through a tweet. He stated that the decision was made after receiving requests from teachers, which were brought to his attention by TDP Graduate MLCs. Following discussions with officials from the education department, the government agreed to extend the holiday period.
Initially, the Dussehra holidays were scheduled from 24 September to 2 October, giving students a nine day break. However, teachers appealed for an earlier start to the holidays, citing the need for more time to prepare for and participate in the festival. Responding to their request, the government added three extra days to the holiday period extending it to twelve days.
With this decision, both government and private schools across Andhra Pradesh will remain closed from 22 September. Schools are expected to reopen on 3 October 2025.
The Dussehra festival is widely celebrated across the state, and the extended break allows students and teachers to spend more time with their families and take part in traditional activities. The holiday also provides a pause in the academic calendar, giving students time to rest before returning to school.
