Etawah man posts suicide note on social media, saved minutes later after Meta sends alert to UP Police

A 23-year-old man from Uttar Pradesh’s Etawah was saved from taking his own life after a timely intervention by police, who were alerted through Meta’s suicide prevention mechanism.

The incident took place late on Wednesday, September 4, when the Social Media Center at Police Headquarters in Lucknow received an alert at 11.33 pm about a disturbing post made on social media, India Today reported.

In his post, the young man had declared that he was sitting on a railway track and intended to die that night. Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) Rajiv Krishna immediately directed officers to trace the man. His mobile number and location were quickly tracked to the Civil Lines police station area of Etawah district.

A local police team rushed to his residence and arrived there in less than 10 minutes. However, when they did not find him at home, officers immediately moved towards the nearby railway tracks. Acting swiftly, they intercepted him on the way, convinced him not to harm himself, and brought him back home safely.
