India's largest car manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki will share details of its blueprint for electric mobility at the upcoming Bharat Mobility Expo this month, introducing the car maker's EV development vision as well as its efforts to develop an electric ecosystem to encourage adoption.
Maruti Suzuki has named its electric vision 'e For Me', which it said will aim for a 'comprehensive approach' to electric vehicles as well as its infrastructure, along with 'innovative solutions' to make them more accessible.
"This strategy goes beyond just launching electric vehicles – it is about creating an entire ecosystem that makes the transition to electric mobility natural and seamless for every Indian," said Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing & Sales, Maruti Suzuki India.
Maruti said it will showcase the complete dimension of 'e For Me' at the upcoming Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, giving visitors a first-hand experience of the vision. Maruti is also set to unveil its eBorn SUV – e VITARA at the upcoming Mobility Auto Show.
The model marks Suzuki's first global strategic BEV model.
Electric Vitara's production is slated to commence at Suzuki Motor's Gujarat plant from March 2025, and plans are to begin production in Europe and Japan later in the year, Suzuki had said.
Car experts believe new options in the EV segment will help widen the category among Indian buyers. Maruti expects to switch gears to cater to buyers of battery-powered SUVs with this launch and attempt to take on rivals Tata Motors and Mahindra in this category.
