Democrats on the House Oversight Committee have released a second batch of photographs from the estate of Jeffrey Epstein, the disgraced financier and convicted sex offender who died in federal custody in 2019. The latest set of images, made public on Friday, features Epstein alongside several well-known political, business and cultural figures, including US President Donald Trump, former President Bill Clinton, Steve Bannon, former Treasury Secretary Larry Summers, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates and filmmaker Woody Allen.
The committee stressed that none of the photographs show illegal acts or indicate wrongdoing by the individuals pictured. Being photographed with Epstein at public or private events, they noted, does not imply involvement in any criminal activity.
Among the photos is a black and white image of Trump from several years before his presidency, standing with several women whose faces have been redacted. Another image shows Trump standing with Epstein as they speak to a woman, while a third shows him next to a woman whose face has also been obscured. Trump appears in three of the 19 newly released photos. An additional picture shows an illustrated depiction of him on red packets with a sign that reads "Trump Condom."
Clinton appears in another photograph posing with Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s longtime associate who was later convicted for her role in his sex trafficking network. Clinton signed the photograph.
Bannon appears in several images, including one in which he sits across from Epstein at a desk and another that is a mirror selfie showing both men. Other photos show Woody Allen seated in a director’s chair speaking to Epstein, and another of Allen in conversation with Bannon.
Representative Robert Garcia, the ranking Democrat on the committee, sharply criticised what he called a lack of transparency from federal authorities. He told NBC, "It is time to end this White House cover-up and bring justice to the survivors of Jeffrey Epstein and his powerful friends. These disturbing photos raise even more questions about Epstein and his relationships with some of the most powerful men in the world. We will not rest until the American people get the truth. The Department of Justice must release all the files, NOW."
Garcia added that the committee is reviewing "over 95,000 photos" obtained from Epstein’s estate and that more materials will be released "in the days and weeks ahead." The photographs released on Friday are separate from the files that the Department of Justice must release by December 19 under legislation signed by Trump on November 19.
This release follows an earlier batch of more than 150 photos and videos published by committee Democrats earlier this month. Those images showed Epstein’s private island properties in the US Virgin Islands, including bedrooms, pools, a library and a room containing a dental chair.
Epstein owned two islands in the US Virgin Islands, Little Saint James and Great Saint James, where he was accused of sexually abusing underage girls and young women. The renewed public release of records comes ahead of a looming deadline for the Justice Department to turn over extensive material to Congress, a process that is expected to reveal further details about Epstein’s network and his association with prominent global figures.
