India condemned the killing of five journalists in an Israeli strike on a hospital in Khan Younis, Gaza, calling the incident “shocking and deeply regrettable.” New Delhi reiterated its consistent stance against the loss of civilian lives in conflicts.

“The killing of journalists is shocking and deeply regrettable. India has always condemned the loss of civilian lives in conflict. We understand that the Israeli authorities have already instituted an investigation," Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, posted on X.
The journalists were affiliated with international media outlets, including Reuters, Associated Press, Al Jazeera, and Middle East Eye.

Randhir Jaiswal also acknowledged that Israeli authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.

The attack on Monday claimed the lives of 21 people, including the five journalists. A sixth journalist from a local newspaper was killed in a separate strike in the same region. Media organizations have issued statements mourning the loss of their colleagues.

The World Health Organization (WHO) chief reported that four health workers were also killed in Monday’s attack on Nasser Hospital. Israeli forces carried out a “double tap” strike, with the second attack targeting the facility as rescuers arrived to aid victims of the first strike.
