Former Pakistan prime minister Imran Khan has accused Army Chief General Asim Munir of subjecting him and his wife, Bushra Bibi, to “mental torture” in prison in an attempt to break their will and force them into submission.

Khan, 72, has been incarcerated for over two years in connection with multiple cases and is currently lodged in Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi. His wife, Bushra Bibi, joined him there earlier this year after the couple’s conviction in the Al-Qadir Trust cases.

“The mental torture being inflicted on me and (my wife) Bushra Begum in prison is being carried out by Asim Munir, and the sole purpose is to make us break down and submit,” Khan said in a post on X on Friday.

Khan compared the alleged treatment to the cruelty of historical tyrants, saying, “As long as we are alive, we will not bow down before the cruelty of Yazid or the tyranny of the Pharaoh."
