G7 urges India and Pakistan to de-escalate, condemns Pahalgam attack

The joint message signals growing global concern over the volatility in the region and the need for crisis management before the situation spirals further.

The Group of Seven (G7) nations on May 10 issued a joint statement calling for restraint and dialogue between India and Pakistan, while condemning the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22 which claimed 26 lives.

The foreign ministers of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States – along with the High Representative of the European Union – condemned the Pahalgam terror strike and warned against further military escalation in the region.

“We, the G7 Foreign Ministers of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States of America and the High Representative of the European Union, strongly condemn the egregious terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22 and urge maximum restraint from both India and Pakistan,” the G7 said in a statement issued on May 10.
