A federal judge in California on Thursday issued a nationwide injunction that blocks the Trump administration's efforts to revoke the legal status of thousands of international students, reported  This ruling comes amid growing tensions between the administration and Harvard University regarding its enrollment of foreign students.

US District Judge Jeffrey White criticized the administration's actions as "arbitrary and capricious," indicating that they likely exceeded their authority. The injunction prevents immigration authorities from arresting, detaining, or deporting the affected students while legal challenges are ongoing.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) had recently revoked Harvard University's certification to enroll international students, citing concerns over campus safety and alleged ties to foreign entities. This decision impacted approximately 6,800 international students, who were given just 72 hours to transfer to other institutions or risk losing their legal status.
