US Vice President JD Vance has issued a forceful condemnation of racist and antisemitic attacks aimed at his wife Usha Vance, pushing back against remarks made by far-right commentator Nick Fuentes and former White House press secretary Jen Psaki.
Speaking in an interview with UnHerd, Vance made it clear that attacks on his family were unacceptable, regardless of who was responsible. “Let me be clear. Anyone who attacks my wife, whether their name is Jen Psaki or Nick Fuentes, can eat sh#t. That’s my official policy as vice president of the United States,” he said.
Vance underscored that racial and religious hatred had no place in American public life. “Whether you’re attacking somebody because they’re white or because they’re black or because they’re Jewish, I think it’s disgusting,” he added.
Fuentes, a long-time extremist figure, has repeatedly targeted Usha Vance, who was born in the United States to Indian immigrant parents. He has previously branded JD Vance a “race traitor” for marrying outside his race and used openly racist language against the second lady. Vance said Fuentes and his supporters, often referred to as the Groyper movement, had harassed his friends and family online for years.
While stressing that racism must be opposed in all forms and that people should be judged by their actions rather than ethnicity, Vance argued that fringe figures were not the most serious concern. He said greater attention should be paid to those in positions of political power.
“If you believe racism is bad, Fuentes should occupy one second of your focus, and the people with actual political power who worked so hard to discriminate against white men should occupy many hours of it,” Vance said.
The vice president also criticized race-based policies in college admissions and employment, claiming they had encouraged discrimination against white Americans over the past decade. He said such policies were backed by Democrats during the administration of Joe Biden and argued that his own children, who are of mixed white and South Asian heritage, were disadvantaged within elite educational and professional systems as a result.
Vance further rejected what he described as “heritage Americanist” views that elevate ancestry and genetics over shared civic values, reiterating his belief that American identity should be grounded in common principles rather than race.
