Transferring photos or videos from Android to iPhones or vice versa can be sometimes troublesome and takes up a lot of data as well. Back in March 2021, Apple through its cloud subscription, iCloud allowed its users to transfer photos or videos to Google Photos and now Google is allowing to do the reverse and transfer media from Google Photos to Apple iCloud.

According to a new report by 9to5Mac, this new Google Photos to iCloud data transfer tool is a part of the Data Transfer Initiative (DTI), and will be available in the coming weeks. Currently, if a user wants to transfer media files, they have to first download them from Google Photos and then upload them on the iCloud servers.

However, this process is going to be streamlined now with the direct transfer option, which will allow users to transfer photos from Google Photos to Apple iCloud directly, without downloading or uploading them previously.

Apple has also updated its support page and added that this service will be available in more than 240 countries and regions. Previously, third-party services that allowed you to transfer photos or videos were Flickr, Microsoft OneDrive, and SmugMug.  However, with this new tool, the iCloud option will also be available in the Google Takeout transfer tool.
