OnePlus Nord 5 to borrow this design element from OnePlus 13s

The OnePlus Nord 5 is set to launch on July 8, 2025, alongside the more budget-friendly Nord CE 5. With its upgraded design and smart new features, the Nord 5 might just raise the bar for mid-range phones once again.

The wait is almost over, the OnePlus Nord 5 is on its way, and fans of the brand have something interesting to look forward to. While the Nord series is known for bringing a flagship-like experience at a mid-range price, the Nord 5 is taking things a step further. This time, OnePlus is borrowing a key design element from its premium sibling, the OnePlus 13s.

The upcoming Nord 5 will feature the “Plus Key”, a new button that replaces the familiar Alert Slider seen in previous models. Much like Apple’s Action Button, this Plus Key will be customisable. Users can set it to quickly launch the flashlight, open the camera, switch sound profiles, or even activate OnePlus’ AI features like real-time translation. This brings a flagship-level convenience to a more affordable phone.

That’s not all. OnePlus is ditching the two-tone metal and glass look of the Nord 4 and going for a cleaner, more refined design inspired by the OnePlus 13s. Expect flat edges, a vertical pill-shaped camera module, and possibly even an IR blaster, according to early teasers.

Interestingly, OnePlus has also confirmed that the power and volume buttons have been moved to the right side of the device, leaving space for the new Plus Key on the left. As for colours, the Nord 5 is expected to come in marbled and grey finishes.
