Microsoft will soon allow users to connect two Bluetooth headphones at once

Microsoft has introduced Shared Audio in the latest Windows 11 Insider Preview Build (26220.7051) for the Dev and Beta channels. The feature uses Bluetooth Low Energy (LE) Audio to broadcast your PC’s sound to two compatible audio devices at the same time — a trick previously seen on some smartphones but never natively supported in Windows.

Initially, Shared Audio works only on select Copilot+ PCs, including the 13.8-inch and 15-inch Surface Laptops and the 13-inch Surface Pro with Snapdragon X chips. Supported accessories include newer Bluetooth LE Audio-capable gear such as Samsung’s Galaxy Buds2 Pro, Buds3 series, and Sony’s WH-1000XM6 headphones, with more devices expected to join the list soon.

For users, the feature means shared movie nights, group study sessions, or quiet co-op gaming — all without the tangle of splitters. Beyond convenience, Bluetooth LE Audio offers better energy efficiency, lower latency, and longer battery life for connected devices.

To try it, users must ensure their PC supports Bluetooth LE Audio, join the Windows Insider Programme, update to Build 26220.7051, and pair two compatible headphones or earbuds before enabling the Shared Audio toggle in quick settings.
