Infosys becomes first Indian company to secure EU certification for cross-border data transfer

BCR certification has been achieved for both Infosys’ own and client data, strengthening the company’s focus on maintaining consistent standards of data privacy and protection

Infosys on December 19 announced that it has obtained certification from European Union data protection authorities for the transfer of personal information to group locations globally.

"It has obtained regulatory approvals for its Binding Corporate Rules (BCR) from the Hesse Data Protection Authority, Germany, following concurrence from the EDPB (European Data Protection Board)," the company said in a release.

BCR certification has been achieved for both Infosys’ own and client data, strengthening the company’s focus on maintaining consistent standards of data privacy and protection.

The development assumes significance as it addresses concerns around cross-border data transfers in today’s AI-first world.  The Bengaluru-based firm has become the first Indian company to achieve BCR certification.
