Apple is still the only major smartphone brand that has yet to release a foldable phone. The Cupertino-based tech giant has been milking the same four-model product lineup for a long period. However, according to a new report, this could finally change as Apple’s first foldable iPhone is reportedly coming in 2026. The design language of this foldable handset is said to be identical to Samsung's current Galaxy Z Fold series book-style outward mechanism. Additionally, this foldable could rely a lot on the same technologies Apple is expected to include in the upcoming iPhone 17 Air.

In his weekly Power On newsletter, Mark Gurman states that Apple will launch a foldable iPhone in 2026. Moreover, the device will reportedly resemble the design language of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold smartphones. Gurman also adds that this foldable iPhone will feature many of the same technologies found in the highly anticipated ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air, which should be released this year.

This means that Apple could include a custom 5G modem, a smaller and denser battery, and thinner components in this foldable device. Further, previous leaks and rumours suggested that it could have a 9.2mm thickness when folded and 4.6mm when unfolded. Moreover, the foldable could get a dual rear camera setup and a 5,000 mAh battery.
