The Gabit Smart Ring fits neatly into this idea. After using it for a few weeks while wearing it throughout the day including – gym, office and even to the bed, here’s how it fared.
Design and everyday comfort
If you’ve seen a titanium band before, then, Gabit smart ring design is already familiar for you. It is a clean looking band with not a flashy attitude and I think that should be the whole point of a smart ring. With an 8mm width and a thickness under 3mm, it avoids the bulky feel that some smart rings struggle with. Weighing just over three grams, it is light enough that you stop thinking about it within minutes of wearing it.
The sizing process is more important than it may initially seem. Gabit includes a sizing kit before purchase, and that step is essential. For me, the sizing kit is accurate – I have a 10 size ring and based on the kit, it fits perfectly in my index finger.
Also, a proper fit directly affects comfort and tracking accuracy. The company suggests wearing the ring on the index finger, and in practice, that advice makes sense. The sensors sit more consistently against the skin there, especially during sleep.
What stood out most during daily use was how comfortable the ring remained over long periods. Wearing it through workdays, workouts, and sleep did not feel intrusive. Unlike smartwatches, there is no strap pressure or screen edge digging into the wrist at night. The only time the ring made its presence felt was during heavy sweating, when fingers tend to swell slightly. Even then, it never became uncomfortable enough to require removal.
The inner surface houses the sensors under a resin layer, with small raised points that help maintain correct orientation. It is a subtle design detail, but one that quietly improves reliability without asking the user to think about it.
Coming to the build quality, the titanium construction gives the ring a reassuring sense of durability. In fact, I kept wearing it during showers, workouts, etc and the ring has so far performed well in terms of quality and sturdiness.
Available colour options keep things understated, and the ring blends easily with regular jewellery rather than looking like a piece of tech. This is one of the areas where the smart ring concept genuinely works better than a smartwatch for certain users.
Health tracking and sensor performance
The biggest part of the Gabit Smart Ring is health and fitness tracking and it has a surprisingly comprehensive sensor array for its size. It uses PPG sensors for heart rate monitoring, SpO2 tracking, skin temperature sensors, and a 3D accelerometer for movement and activity. Together, these enable tracking of steps, sleep stages, resting heart rate, heart rate variability, stress levels, VO2 max estimates, and blood oxygen levels.
Because the ring has no screen, all data lives inside the companion app. That might sound limiting, but in practice, it reinforces the idea of passive tracking. You are not constantly checking numbers during the day. Instead, the data builds quietly in the background.
Sleep tracking is where the ring feels most at home. Wearing it overnight is far easier than wearing a smartwatch, and the sleep data reflects that consistency. The app breaks sleep down into awake time, light sleep, and deep sleep, and over time, patterns become easy to spot. Rather than feeling like raw data, the insights begin to connect with how rested you actually feel the next day.
To test accuracy, the ring’s readings were compared with a modern smartwatch known for reliable sensors. Step counts were almost identical, often differing by a single step. Heart rate and SpO2 readings typically showed only minor variations of one or two points. Over repeated checks, this consistency helped build confidence that the smaller form factor is not compromising accuracy.
On-demand measurements are also available for heart rate and SpO2, indicated by different coloured sensor lights. While this is not something you will use frequently, it is useful for quick checks without waiting for background readings.
One area where Gabit adds a thoughtful layer is women’s health tracking. Beyond basic cycle prediction, the app includes expected symptom indicators. Instead of simply marking dates, it surfaces likely changes such as energy levels or skin condition. While these are predictive rather than definitive, they add useful context and make the feature feel more considered than a basic calendar reminder.
App experience and data presentation
The Gabit app plays a central role in the experience. It is divided into five sections: Home, Smart Ring, Fitness, Nutrition, and Skincare. The Home tab acts as a daily overview, bringing together sleep, stress, activity, and nutrition data in a single view. Despite being information-heavy, it remains readable thanks to clear visuals, colour coding, and trend graphs.
For deeper insights, the Smart Ring section presents data in a more detailed list format. Tapping into individual metrics reveals breakdowns and historical trends, which is where the ring’s long-term value starts to show. Seeing changes over days rather than hours feels more aligned with how health improvements actually happen.
Nutrition tracking is included, though it feels more like a secondary feature. Food logging can be done via voice or text. In practice, voice input struggled with regional dishes and complex names, often returning incorrect matches. Text input proved far more reliable, quickly surfacing accurate food options and calorie estimates. The app also allows meals to be categorised by time of day and provides basic nutrient breakdowns across carbohydrates, fats, proteins, and fibre.
While useful, nutrition tracking does not feel like the core reason to buy the ring. It works best as a supplementary feature rather than a primary tool.
However, I do feel that the app is a little cluttered as everything from buying options to added features – testimonies, etc are available right on the app. And, that makes the app feel a little more cluttered. I like a more streamlined experience where the Ring’s data should be in focus for most parts of the app.
Battery life and charging
Battery life is one of the Gabit Smart Ring’s strongest aspects. A full charge easily lasts close to 10 days, even with continuous tracking enabled. This dramatically reduces charging anxiety and reinforces the idea of the ring as a background device rather than something that demands regular attention.
Charging is handled through a compact USB Type-C case, and a full charge takes under two hours. The case itself is small enough to carry without effort, and charging once a week feels far more manageable than daily top-ups.
Living with the ring long term
Over time, the Gabit Smart Ring settles into your routine rather than disrupting it. There are no notifications, vibrations, or constant prompts to engage. For users who already feel overwhelmed by screens, this can be a relief. The ring quietly collects data and leaves interpretation to moments when you actually want to check in.
That same quality may feel limiting for users who expect real-time feedback during workouts or on-the-go stats. This is not a replacement for a smartwatch if you rely heavily on immediate metrics or third-party apps. It is best seen as a complementary device, or as an alternative for those who value subtlety over interaction.
The Gabit Smart Ring succeeds by staying focused on what a smart ring should do well. It is comfortable, discreet, and reliable, with health tracking that holds up against much larger wearables. Its long battery life and thoughtful design make it easy to wear continuously, which is ultimately what gives its data value.
There are areas that could improve, particularly around voice-based food logging, but these do not undermine the core experience. At Rs 13,800, the pricing feels reasonable for what it offers, especially for users who want consistent health insights without committing to a smartwatch lifestyle.
