Samsung might be shaking things up in the AI world. According to a report by Bloomberg, the company is in talks to invest in Perplexity AI — a fast-growing AI assistant and web search engine that competes with big names like ChatGPT, Claude, and Google’s Gemini. And if all goes well, future Samsung phones, starting with the Galaxy S26 next year, could come preloaded with Perplexity AI.

Currently, Samsung uses Google’s Gemini for AI features in its One UI software. But this new move suggests the tech giant is exploring alternatives, possibly to reduce its reliance on Google and offer users more options. The Galaxy S26, expected to launch early next year, may be the first to feature Perplexity as the main AI assistant.

Samsung is also reportedly planning to go beyond just the assistant. Discussions are underway to integrate Perplexity into other Samsung apps like Bixby and Samsung Internet. There’s even talk of building an "AI-infused operating system" and smart AI agents that could work alongside Perplexity and other assistants.

The deal hasn’t been finalized yet, but if it goes through, Samsung could become one of Perplexity’s biggest investors. In fact, the two companies have been in talks since earlier this year and recently met in South Korea. An official announcement could be made later this year.
