ChatGPT is getting its own take on Spotify Wrapped. OpenAI has begun rolling out a new annual review feature called Your Year with ChatGPT. According to a report by Tech Crunch, OpenAI is offering eligible users a personalised look back at how they interacted with the chatbot throughout the year.
The feature is launching in select English-speaking markets, including the United States, Canada, the UK, Australia, and New Zealand. At launch, it is available to users on the Free, Plus, and Pro plans, provided they have both “reference saved memories” and “reference chat history” enabled, and have crossed a minimum conversation activity threshold.
OpenAI told TechCrunch that Team, Enterprise, and Education accounts will not have access to the experience. The company described the feature as “lightweight, privacy-forward, and user-controlled,” emphasising that participation is optional.
Much like Spotify Wrapped and similar year-end summaries from consumer apps, Your Year with ChatGPT uses colourful visuals and personalised insights to reflect how each user engaged with the product. The experience includes playful “awards” tied to usage patterns. For example, users who frequently worked through problems or explored ideas with the chatbot might receive a title such as “Creative Debugger.”
In addition to usage highlights, the feature generates a custom poem and an image inspired by the themes and topics a user spent the most time discussing. The goal, OpenAI suggests, is to create a fun and reflective snapshot of how ChatGPT fit into a person’s daily work, learning, or creative routines over the year.
The company is promoting the year-in-review on the ChatGPT home screen, but it will not open automatically or force users into the experience. Users can also manually trigger it by asking ChatGPT for “Your Year with ChatGPT.”
The feature is available across platforms, including the ChatGPT web app and the mobile apps for iOS and Android.
The launch reflects OpenAI’s broader push to position ChatGPT as a more personal and habit-forming consumer product, not just a productivity or research tool. At the same time, the emphasis on privacy controls suggests an awareness of ongoing concerns around data use and personalisation, particularly as ChatGPT continues to expand its memory and long-term context features.
