Camera Intelligence has unveiled a new mirrorless camera called Caira that integrates Google’s Nano Banana image model, enabling real-time AI editing directly at the point of capture. The device connects to iPhones using MagSafe and allows users to take a photo and instantly modify it with Nano Banana’s advanced generative features.

The integration makes it possible to change lighting, colours, or even transform objects in seconds. The process is designed to be as seamless as applying an Instagram filter, making professional-level AI editing accessible on the go. Because the system is embedded directly in iOS through MagSafe, users can review, edit, and export their work instantly without transferring files to another device.

Caira supports Micro Four Thirds lenses, offering professionals the flexibility of interchangeable optics while benefiting from a 400% larger sensor than typical smartphone cameras. Camera Intelligence says this combination of optical performance and AI enhancement gives creators superior image quality with minimal post-processing. The camera will be available for pre-order on Kickstarter starting 30 October.

The company says Nano Banana was chosen for its ability to maintain detail consistency and preserve optical quality during edits. Vishal Kumar, CEO of Camera Intelligence, said that integrating Nano Banana into Caira represents a major shift in how creators approach photography. He added that the AI model delivers accurate one-shot results without the common distortions or artefacts seen in other generative systems.
