Apple may launch new ‘TechWoven’ cases with iPhone 17 after FineWoven failure

Apple is reportedly preparing to launch a new line-up of cases for the iPhone 17 series, dubbed TechWoven. The move comes a year after the company scrapped its FineWoven cases, which were introduced with the iPhone 15 but quickly gained a reputation for poor durability. With the iPhone 16, Apple limited its case options to clear and silicone variants, leaving a gap in its accessories line-up.

According to tipster Majin Bu, the upcoming TechWoven range will be fabric-based and designed to deliver a more durable, sustainable option. The cases are expected to protect against scratches, impact and everyday wear while maintaining a minimalist look. They are said to include features such as two lanyard holes, MagSafe compatibility for accessories like wallets and chargers, and a non-slip texture for better grip.

The TechWoven cases could be offered across the entire iPhone 17 family, including the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max. Apple may introduce them in multiple colour choices such as black, brown, blue, green and purple.

FineWoven, meanwhile, failed to meet user expectations. Customers complained that the material wore out quickly, scratched easily and absorbed stains within days of use, making the cases feel overpriced at Rs. 5,900. Today, unsold stock of FineWoven cases can be found for as little as Rs. 900 on sites like Croma, highlighting how far the product’s reputation has fallen.
