Apple launches redesigned App Store on the web: What it means for users

Apple has launched a redesigned App Store on the web, allowing users to browse apps across iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, Apple TV, and Vision Pro. While you can’t download apps directly, the new interface makes app discovery and sharing easier than ever.

Apple has quietly rolled out a revamped version of its App Store for the web, creating a unified place where users can browse apps across all Apple devices — from the iPhone and iPad to the Mac, Apple Watch, Apple TV, and even Vision Pro.

Until now, if you visited apps.apple.com, you’d only find basic information about apps or the App Store itself. That’s changed. The new version looks and feels much like the App Store app you’d see on your devices, with a clean interface and easy navigation. You can browse apps by category, switch between platforms, and even view curated content such as recommendations from the Today tab — all directly from your browser.

However, there’s a catch: you can’t download apps directly from the website. Instead, Apple gives you the option to either open the app’s listing on your device’s App Store or share the app link with others. That means the web version is more of a discovery and browsing tool rather than a full-fledged download platform.

Previously, Apple did have individual webpages for apps, but they weren’t particularly user-friendly or searchable. You could only access them if you had a direct link, making discovery a hassle. The redesigned web App Store fixes that problem — you can now search for apps easily, just as you would in the native app.
