'We made a promise’: Sakshi Dhoni’s heartfelt anniversary post for MS Dhoni goes viral

Former Indian cricket team captain and legendary wicketkeeper-batter Mahendra Singh Dhoni is celebrating 15 years of marriage with wife Sakshi on Friday, July 4, 2025. The couple tied the knot in a low-key ceremony back in 2010. Now 43, Dhoni represented India in over 500 international matches between 2004 and 2019, becoming one of the most iconic figures in the game.

To mark the anniversary, Sakshi shared a rare throwback picture with Dhoni on Instagram, accompanied by the caption: “We made a promise! Onto 16th."

The couple welcomed their daughter, Ziva, on February 6, 2015.

Dhoni, the only captain to have led India to victories in all three ICC white-ball tournaments—the T20 World Cup (2007), the ODI World Cup (2011), and the Champions Trophy (2013)—played his final international match on July 10, 2019, against New Zealand. That rain-hit World Cup semifinal in Manchester ended in heartbreak, with India falling 18 runs short in a 240-run chase. Dhoni scored a valiant 50 off 72 balls before being run out in the final overs.
