After already scoring 585 runs in the first two Tests against England, Shubman Gill has broken several records. Of those, 430 came in the Edgbaston Test, which India won to level the five-match series. It was also India's first win at the venue. With 269 runs in the first innings and 161 in the second, Gill was rightfully awarded the Player of the Match. He broke Virat Kohli's record for the most runs by an Indian captain in a single innings, Sunil Gavaskar's record for the most runs by an Indian in a single Test match, became the first Asian skipper to hit a double ton in SENA countries, and also the first to score a double century along with a 150 in the same match.
With three more Tests remaining, Gill could rewrite more records in the history books for good. If he continues his rich form in the remaining games, he could break four world records held by the legendary Don Bradman—records that have stood for nearly 100 years.

Bradman currently stands on top with 810 runs as captain he scored in the 1936-37 Ashes. Gill is now just 225 runs behind from breaking that record.

Another stellar record set by Don Bradman is 974 runs in the Ashes series (1930) in England. The numbers sound impossible but the new captain of India has already crossed the halfway mark. He is just 390 runs behind now with 3 games and potentially 6 innings in hand.
“I hope he does that. I don't know whether he will do it, but I am sure that he has an opportunity. He is in great form, and he should do it, that's what I feel," said former India captain Dilip Vengsarkar on Gill's chances of breaking Braman's record for most runs in a series.

Sir Don Bradman had reached the 1000 run mark in Test cricket as captain in just 11 innings. Gill currently needs 415 runs in his next 6 innings to break the record.
Most centuries in a Test series
Gill has scored three so far in the ongoing series against England. He could break Clyde Walcott's record of five centuries he scored against Australia in 1955. Bradman scored four tons in a series against India in 1947. He could break that record as well.

He needs just 148 more runs to break Sunil Gavaskar’s long-standing record of 732 runs—the most by an Indian captain in a Test series, set during the 1978–79 season.
Only 18 more runs will take him past Rahul Dravid’s tally of 602, the highest number of runs scored by an Indian batter in a Test series on English soil.
He is just 127 runs away from overtaking Yashasvi Jaiswal’s 712, the current record for most runs by an Indian in any Test series against England.
And with 91 more runs, Gill would eclipse Virat Kohli’s 655, the most runs scored by an Indian captain in a Test series against England.
