Rohit Sharma was honoured by the Mumbai Cricket Association, who named a stand at the iconic Wankhede Stadium after him. The development took place a week after Rohit drew curtains from Test cricket. He had previously announced retirement from T20Is after guiding the country to their second World T20 glory in Barbados last year.

Rohit received plenty of congratulatory messages for the special honour and Rahul Dravid, who was the coach when Rohit led India to T20 World Cup triumph, too joined the bandwagon. However, the ex-India cricketer and coach had a hilarious message for the premier batter, which was posted by Mumbai Indians on their social media channels.

He started by hailing Rohit's contribution to both Indian and Mumbai cricket, also admiring the opener's six-hitting abilities with a taste of humour. "Hey Rohit. Guess you hit so many sixes into those stands that they had to name one after you! But, congratulations. I’m sure as a young boy going into the iconic Wankhede Stadium — truly one of the great stadiums in the world — I’m sure you would have loved to have played there, I’m sure you would have wanted to have some great performances there, which you have done. I’m not sure you dreamt about having a stand named after you, but that it has come to that and that you have one named after you, it’s a just reward for your contribution to both Mumbai and Indian cricket," said Dravid.
