All is not good at Pakistan camp, or is it? Well if you go by stuff that you see on social media and their performance on the field, the Pakistan cricket team definitely needs a reboot. The team failed to make any impact in the ODI World Cup held in India and months later they produced another disappointing show in the World T20s, where they failed to reach the Super 8 stage. A couple of months later Pakistan cricket has hit a new low, which is a humiliating 0-2 loss against Bangladesh on their home turf.
While fingers have been pointed at some of their stars, speculations of possible rift among players have also emerged. This includes problems between their skipper Shan Masood and the country's star pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi. After Pakistan's 10-wicket loss against Bangladesh in the first Test, a video of Shaheen brushing his captain's hand off his shoulders had gone viral and subsequently the pacer was dropped from the second Test, which Pakistan lost by six wickets.
However as per latest reports, Masood has dismissed all speculations pointing towards a possible rift between the two. Masood also clarified that there are no disputes between the two and explained Shaheen's actions to be "polite". He added that Shaheen removed his hand due to a sore on his shoulder, which occurred after he was hit by a ball while batting during the match.
"There are no issues between us and in fact only a certain part of the clip is around but if you see the full clip you can see Shaheen had his arms around my back," he said.
The Pakistan captain also dismissed talks about dropping Shaheen because of the incident. "We had a good discussion with Shaheen and we told him he remains our best bowler and needs to work and find his best rhythm and form for us as we have a lot of cricket coming up this season," he said.
Speaking further, Masood also addressed the talks surrounding his captaincy and if he's worried it'll be snatched after the "unacceptable" outcome in the home series against Bangladesh. "I don't think about these things because being made captain is a privilege and until I am captain my only focus is to take the team forward. There is no doubt that losing to Bangladesh two nil is totally unacceptable for us as well."
