The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 encounter between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala was called off on Wednesday evening. The development took place midway when Punjab were batting at 122/1 in 10.1 overs after a partial blackout at the venue. Shreyas Iyer was yet to face a delivery and Prabhsimran Singh at the other end was playing on 50 off 28 balls.
As per initial inputs on ESPNCricinfo, the IPL authorities had asked the stadium to be evacuated due to security reasons. However, this wasn't the case as BCCI released a statement soon after.
The Indian cricket board in its statement confirmed the "match has been abandoned due to a power outage caused by a significant technical failure in the area which caused one of the light towers to switch off. The BCCI regrets the inconvenience caused to the in-stadium attendees."
In addition, the encounter between Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians scheduled for May 11 at the same venue was shifted from Dharamsala to Ahmedabad, earlier this afternoon. This came after the closure of the town's airport in the wake of military action against terror infrastructure in Pakistan.
Meanwhile, PTI reported that Kolkata's Eden Gardens and the Sawai Man Singh Stadium in Jaipur received a bomb threat via e-mail, which prompted the security agencies to launch a search operation. Rajasthan Sports Council president Neeraj K Pawan stated the e-mail came in the morning, threatening to strike the Sawai Man Singh Stadium days before Rajasthan Royals play their final home fixture against Punjab Kings, which is scheduled for May 16.
"We will do bomb blast in your stadium for the success of Operation Sindoor. Save everyone if you can," the e-mail read.
Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) received a similar bomb threat, which led to a major security scare during the IPL match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings at the Eden Gardens on Wednesday.

The threat mails come in the wake of rising tension between India and Pakistan after Indian Army launched 'Operation Sindoor' - carrying out missile strikes at nine terror targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir early Wednesday in retaliation for the April 22 Pahalgam attack, which claimed the lives of 25 tourists and one local.
