Virat Kohli, one of the key players for RCB, stole the show with his quick wit. During the session, hosted by team member Dinesh Karthik, Kohli was asked to guess Karthik’s favourite sportsperson outside of cricket. Kohli’s clever response not only amused everyone but also left Karthik momentarily speechless.
“Your wife,” Kohli quipped, referring to Karthik’s spouse, Dipika Pallikal, who is an accomplished squash player and one of India's top athletes in the sport. The room burst into laughter, including RCB captain Faf du Plessis, who found Kohli's reply hilarious.
Karthik, clearly taken aback by Kohli's answer, acknowledged the cleverness of the reply. “It's a great answer, for sure. I had a different answer in my head. You caught me off-guard, completely, I swear,” he said, appreciating Kohli’s humour.
Dipika Pallikal, who married Karthik in 2015, has had a distinguished career in squash and is highly respected in the sports community. The couple has two sons, Kabir and Zian.
On the cricket front, RCB has been facing a tough season, with only one win from seven matches. The team is at risk of an early exit from the competition, lacking the form needed to progress to the play-offs. This poor run of results has placed them at the very bottom of the IPL standings.
Despite their struggles on the field, moments like these during the Q&A session show a different side of the team—a side that can still find reasons to smile and enjoy each other's company amidst adversity.
