Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma's retirements undoubtedly created a significant void in the Indian lineup that needed to be addressed. The BCCI was forced to name a new captain and have faith in the young players to perform well in the five-match Test series against England because of the two players' abrupt retirements.

Even before the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy started, many cricket experts had dismissed the youthful Indian team, but Shubman Gill's team ultimately provided a suitable response to all of their skeptics. A stunning 6-run triumph in the fifth and final Test helped them level the series at 2-2.

One of India's top performers in the England Tests, Akash Deep, offered his thoughts on Kohli's departure from Test cricket, pointing out that while it had a significant effect on the team, a single player cannot build a team. The next generation is already ready to take over, he continued.
