Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma's retirements undoubtedly created a significant void in the Indian lineup that needed to be addressed. The BCCI was forced to name a new captain and have faith in the young players to perform well in the five-match Test series against England because of the two players' abrupt retirements.
Even before the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy started, many cricket experts had dismissed the youthful Indian team, but Shubman Gill's team ultimately provided a suitable response to all of their skeptics. A stunning 6-run triumph in the fifth and final Test helped them level the series at 2-2.

One of India's top performers in the England Tests, Akash Deep, offered his thoughts on Kohli's departure from Test cricket, pointing out that while it had a significant effect on the team, a single player cannot build a team. The next generation is already ready to take over, he continued.
“See, it’s a team. I feel one day – we may or may not be part of it, someone will be after us. The team’s atmosphere will continue to be the same. 11 guys form a team, not one. And everyone is important. He took the team to newer heights; everybody saw the transformation that happened (during Kohli’s time). Today, it’s Gill – his first series and the huge achievement. So everyone is doing well" Akash told Aaj Tak.
Star players for India in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy included Mohammed Siraj, Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill, and Yashasvi Jaiswal. The fact that all of these players are anticipated to remain with the squad for many years to come indicates that the younger group is prepared to take on difficult tasks and be successful even without Rohit and Kohli on board.
India's next Test match will be a two-game home series against the West Indies, starting on October 2. With the forthcoming series, the Indian cricket team, who are presently in third place on the World Test Championship (WTC) points table, will be hoping to improve their position further.
