A remarkable recent discovery of a ceremonial temple buried in a sand dune was made by archaeologists along with the human skeleton. The temple is located in the Zaña district of the northwestern region of Lambayeque Peru.

According to the reports this site was a religious ceremonial place. The site's discovery of burial that contained offerings in wrapped clothes was evidence that the site was a sacrificial ritual place according to Channel News Asia.

Within the temple walls, archaeologists also found the skeletons of three adults along with the offerings wrapped in cloth. The search on site started by archaeologists on June 3, during which the archaeologists discovered a multistoried temple. The site is claimed to be more than 4000 years old.

It was revealed after the discovery that the temple's multistoried building had a decorated wall that had intricate pictures of mythological characters of birds and humans, creatures like feline and reptile claws, according to the statement of Luis Armando Muro Ynoñán, director of the Archaeological Project of Cultural Landscapes of Úcupe - Zaña Valley.
