Ayodhya Ram Mandir Gets Rs 12-Crore Golden Jhulas for Ram Lalla’s Shravana Celebrations

Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh: As the holy month of Shravana 2025 approaches, the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya has added a stunning new feature: two pure gold swings (jhoolas) made specially for Ram Lalla’s Shravana rituals. Together, they weigh around 11 kg of 24-carat gold and are estimated to be worth ₹12 crore.

The new golden jhoolas for Ram Lalla have become the latest highlight at the Ayodhya Ram Mandir. Crafted from 5.5 kg gold each, they will be used to gently swing the idol of Ram Lalla during the sacred month of Shravan, beginning around July 17, 2025. The swings are not just decorative – they hold deep ritual and spiritual significance. Veteran artisans from Chennai, with a 200-year-old legacy in temple craftsmanship, designed the jhoolas using traditional techniques like repoussé, hand-chasing, and gem-studded detailing. Their design reflects Vaishnavite temple art, featuring lotus petals, conch-shell and chakra motifs, along with red velvet cushions set in golden frames.

Ritual Use During Shravana

These swings will be placed inside the sanctum sanctorum during the month of Shravan, when Lord Ram is traditionally placed on a swing as part of daily rituals. As per temple priests, the act of swinging the deity enhances the emotional and spiritual connection between the Lord and his devotees, accompanied by bhajans and aarti.
