Social media users suggested Trump tightened the cap in response to a challenge from ABC's Rachel Scott, who questioned why Black voters should support him considering his previous remarks about Black individuals and journalists.

X later added community notes clarifying that Trump initially attempted to open the bottle but then set it aside before drinking from it. The bottle in question was intended for Rachel, with Trump's own bottle positioned on his right side.
