Here's why Star India is betting big on football

STAR India has now turned its attention to football. The broadcaster has picked up one third stake in a company jointly owned by Reliance Industries and IMG, and is set to launch an Indian Premier League style football tournament starting January.

With the gentleman's game in its grasp, STAR India has now turned its attention to football. The broadcaster has picked up one third stake in a company jointly owned by Reliance Industries and IMG, and is set to launch an Indian Premier League style football tournament starting January. STAR is paying Rs 2,000 crore in a deal that includes equity and broadcast rights for 10 years. Here's CEO Uday Shankar telling us why.
