Ram Gopal Verma also known as RGV on Thursday made a surprising announcement that he would contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Andhra Pradesh. The filmmaker, known for being eccentric at times, made the announcement on X and added in a separate post that he is "super serious" about it. The internet, however, is not entirely convinced.

'Sudden decision. Am happy to inform that I am contesting from Pithapuram,' he wrote on X. Hours later, when several X users appeared to be skeptical about the announcement -- not to mention having triggered the meme factory -- the filmmaker put up another post. "To all those doubting, I am super serious," he added.

RGV, however, did not clarify if he would join a party or contest as an independent candidate in the Lok Sabha elections.

Reacting to his announcement, an X user wrote, "Contesting for what? If you are contesting in AP elections then are you contending independently or have you joined any party?? There is no clarity in your statement." Another user commented, "Have u ever taken a decision well thought thru !! You know why the public doubts your decisions."

If Ram Gopal Verma indeed decides to contest from Pithapuram, he would be pitted against Tollywood star actor and JSP chief Pawan Kalyan. Interestingly, his announcement came minutes after the Telugu Desam Party-BJP-Jena Sena alliance announced the seat.
