A recent online discussion has reignited concerns over the US green card process, with industry leaders sharing their own lengthy experiences. Rohit Krishnan, Chief Product Officer at Bodo.ai, posted on social media highlighting the obstacles many immigrants face when trying to secure US residency. His remarks attracted a response from Aravind Srinivas, co-founder and CEO of Perplexity AI, who confirmed the struggles, recounting his ongoing wait for a green card despite a three-year application period.

Krishnan’s post drew attention to the taxing demands of the U.S. immigration process, noting the difficulty faced by even highly skilled individuals. "One thing I find about the immigration dialogue is how few of the people making it seem to know how hard it is to actually immigrate to this country,” Krishnan stated.

He added, “Not entirely long or hard for good reasons either, though that’s a different point. The amount of sheer effort it takes to get in is astronomical. I personally know a large number of extraordinary people who would love to come but just don’t want to take on the burden.”

In response, Srinivas shared his own experience with the immigration system, emphasising the unpredictability of the process. “Yep. I have been waiting for my green card for like the last 3 years. Still haven’t gotten it. People mostly have no idea when they talk about immigration,” Srinivas wrote.

The conversation prompted reactions from social media users, many of whom have faced similar challenges. One user humorously pointed out the irony of using Srinivas’ AI platform for green card and immigration-related questions, commenting, “The irony of this, and the number of times my friends and I use Perplexity for GC/Immigration-related queries, can make for good stand-up material!”
