In a classic “Peak Bengaluru” moment, techie Arpit Arora shared an experience on Twitter that captures the unique frustrations — and ironies — of the city’s infamous traffic. Stuck in gridlock for almost two hours, Arora decided to order food to his car, tweeting, “Peak Bengaluru moment is when you are stuck in traffic for almost two hours so you order dinner from your car and it gets DELIVERED IN 10 MINUTES (khana khatam lekin ye traffic nahi) [food is over but not traffic].”
The tweet, accompanied by photos of Arora receiving his burger order, has resonated widely, reflecting both the humour and frustrations of Bengaluru’s daily commuters. “Only in Bengaluru can your food outrun the traffic,” commented one user. Another quipped, “Bengaluru traffic be like: dinner delivered in 10 minutes, but I’ll be home by breakfast!”
Bengaluru’s gridlocks have long been a point of contention, spurring debates, memes, and even entrepreneurial opportunities, as residents find ways to adapt to the growing challenges of commuting.
Swiggy, a popular food delivery service, even became a part of this tale, as Arora’s quick delivery underscored its efficiency amidst the chaos. Users jokingly praised Swiggy for approving orders specifically for those caught in traffic jams.
Many saw the situation as both “hilarious and tragic,” a moment emblematic of the paradoxes Bengaluru residents face. “The city’s traffic truly has a personality of its own — one that tests patience and fuels countless stories like this!” said a comment in reply to Arora’s post. Others, familiar with the city’s realities, added, “Welcome to namma Bengaluru... or else best option to leave the place... no other choice.”
